i ordered a cocktail at dinner a few weeks ago. it was a curiosity explored that felt very intentional. i only had a few sips, but was reminded of how much i love a good cocktail. & upon conversations with friends, i realized that there are many of us who want to find a healthy relationship with alcohol versus cutting it out all together, so i’m hoping i can be a voice in that conversation just as i have in the sober curious one! MOCKTAILS WILL CONTINUE HERE!! but there also might be a few cocktails sprinkled in. & as much as i can, i’ll provide a low-abv or non-alcoholic alternative for sober (curious) baddies like me.
ingredients//
2oz bourbon
.5oz cinnamon maple syrup
1oz lime juice
1/2 cup ginger beer
1/8tsp vanilla extract
ice
marshmallows (for topping)
method//
start by making cinnamon maple syrup - this is optional. you could just use plain maple syrup and shake some cinnamon in, but i LOVE having this syrup on hand for other recipes, too. to a saucepan add 1/3c maple syrup, 1/3c water, 2 cinnamon sticks and 1tsp cinnamon. stir and simmer for 15 minutes. strain into a jar and cool.
to a shaker, add bourbon (or an NA bourbon! or omit it completely!), cinnamon maple syrup, lime juice, vanilla extra and ice. shake until cold. to a cinnamon & sugar rimmed glass, add ice and fill your cocktail about halfway. then, pour in your ginger beer. top with toasted marshmallows! ENJOY.
