friendsgiving menu, day 5: DESSERT. the easiest + most delicious apple crumble with whipped cream and caramel. proud to say i’ve made this twice in the last week, it’s SO good.
ingredients//
3 apples
1/2tbsp lemon juice
1.5tbsp maple syrup
1/2tsp vanilla
2tsp cinnamon
1/4tsp nutmeg
1/2tsp arrowroot powder
-
3/4 rolled oats
1c flour
1/4tsp salt
1/2tsp cinnamon
1tsp vanilla
1/3c maple syrup
1/4c melted coconut oil
method//
preheat oven to 350. in the bottom of your baking dish (or a separate bowl), mix apples, lemon juice, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and arrowroot powder. in a larger bowl, mix oats, flour, salt, cinnamon and vanilla. pour in maple syrup and melted coconut oil and stir until smooth. dollop the flour mixture on top of apple mixture and bake for about ~30 minutes, you can cover with aluminum foil if it starts to brown. our oven is weak, so i threw mine in the broiler for about 2 minutes at the end to get that pretty crisp color! i frothed heavy whipping cream for the whipped cream, and bought a jar of caramel which i spread on the plate before serving! another idea is to place dollops of caramel onto the crisp in the last 10 minutes of baking to let it melt into the crisp.
